The Southern African Community Development Groundwater Management Institute (SADC-GMI) in collaboration with its partners hosted the 4th SADC groundwater Conference on 10 – 12 November 2021, under the theme “Towards a Water Secure SADC – Groundwater Systems Thinking”. Resources & Information: https://conference.sadc-gmi.org/4th-sadc-groundwater-conference/ Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the conference was held virtually and designed in a manner that ensured delegates across the region and beyond effectively collaborated to find solutions to the region’s water-related challenges. 4th SADC Groundwater Conference - Day 1
Providing Water to the Chimbaya Trading Centre in Malawi 👏 Millions of people do not have access to safe water and Chimbiya Trading Centre in Malawi is one of the communities that has struggled with water for many years. Through assessment, Chimbiya Trading Centre was identified as one of the areas with deep-seated aquifers. Groundwater was seen as a solution to water challenges experienced by the community. The project currently benefits the community including local institutions such as schools and clinics who struggled to access water to conduct their business activities. Through the project, livelihoods have been drastically improved and the community has access to safe and clean water, which also helps curb waterborne diseases.💧 #SADCGMI #Chimbiya #Malawi #waterforallby2030 #SDG6 #groundwater #WorldBank
