Windows Interpretation System for the Hydrogeologists (WISH) Training COMING SOON!!!!
The SADC Groundwater Management Institute (SADC-GMI) is implementing the World Bank funded Sustainable Groundwater Management in SADC Member States project. One of the primary mandates of this project is to engage in capacity building with staff from all 15 SADC Member States on different aspects, aimed at improving groundwater management.
In line with our mandate to capacitate/train SADC Member States, we have partnered with the University of the Free State (Institute for Groundwater Studies) in South Africa to host two-day training on Windows Interpretation System for Hydrogeologists (WISH) from the 24th to the 25th of August 2017 at the Birchwood Hotel & O.R. Tambo Conference Centre t, Johannesburg. The aim of the training is to equip the SADC Member States groundwater experts in the use of the Windows Interpretation System for Hydrogeologists (WISH).
The WISH training consists of the following major components:
- A mapping facility- Maps may be incorporated from other applications, such as through digitizing, scanning or from GIS. Formats supported are: shp, dxf, dgn, bmp, tif and, jpg.
- A link to data sets – Data sets from Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and HBase Aquabase maybe superimposed on maps and other data formats can also be accommodated.
- Data interpretation- Many options for data interpretation are included. The main categories include; Spatial analysis, Time series analysis, Specialised chemical diagrams, Pumping test analysis, Hydrogeological logs in plain and in detail, Contours and sections, projecting data to contours and drapping bitmaps.
WISH is a comprehensive graphics user interface for Hydrogeologists, providing most functionalities for day to day data management and interpretation.
The WISH training comes close on the heals, and complements the Groundwater Modelling training that SADC-GMI and UNESCO-IHP jointly delivered to the SADC Member States from 20-22 March 2017.
