SADC-GMI signs a Memorandum of Understandingwith the International Water Management Institute (IWMI)
Forming strategic partnerships is a corner stone for both SADC-GMI and IWMI. Both Institutes strongly believe in collaboration in order to fulfil their bold mandates and deliver to their stakeholders. On 10 September 2019 both SADC-GMI and IWMI,in support of their future specific collaborative interventions,signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The MoU will also strengthen partnership between the two institutes. The MoU was signed by Mr James Sauramba- SADC-GMI Executive Director and Dr Claudia Sadoff – IWMI Director General. SADC-GMI and IWMI will collaborate on a variety of research activities outlined in the MoU. Although the two institutes signed the MoU for the first time, they have been successfully collaborating for a few years to date.
The Memorandum was signed at the IWMI Strategic Planning presentation session which was held at Irene Country Lodge, Pretoria, South Africa on 10 September 2019.
Speaking at the signing ceremony Sauramba acknowledged the IWMI vision “Water Secure World” and said he was very pleased to be part of the vision. The signing of the MoU will consolidate the good collaboration that already existed between IWMI and SADC-GMI, said Dr Karen Villholth, Principal Researcher – IWMI. In her conclusion Karen said both organizations are looking forward to the future collaborations.
